Growing up in Northern Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Superior, I was always fascinated with the world of nature surrounding me. The silhouette of a weeping willow at sunset, the symmetry of patterns left in the sand as waves kissed the beach and the colors of a stormy sky moved my imagination.
Glass artist Donna Ernst is inspired by nature. Though much of her work is classic and traditional, she is especially drawn to the organic. Working with an open flame and glass rods in the centuries-old tradition of lampworking, she creates glass beads and sculptural pieces.
